Enhancing Access for Successful Evaluation 

The Enhancing Access for Successful Evaluation (EASE) Learning Experience is a six-module, NIH-funded, online training designed to build evaluation capacity for institutional training grant stakeholders. Whether you are a principal investigator, program director, administrator, or evaluator, EASE offers practical guidance to help you strengthen your evaluation strategies, streamline reporting, and improve data-driven decision-making across the grant lifecycle. 

Each module includes foundational content, real-world examples, and practical tools that can be used to plan, implement, and improve evaluation strategies across the grant lifecycle. 

Six-Module EASE Learning Experience 

Purpose of the Modules 

The EASE Learning Experience aims to: 

• Build shared evaluation knowledge across training grant teams 

• Increase confidence in planning and conducting high-quality evaluations 

• Provide tools that promote consistency, transparency, and continuous learning 

• Improve alignment between training activities, measurable outcomes, and funding priorities 

• Support the sustainability and long-term success of institutional training programs 

 

Learning Objectives

• Define key evaluation concepts in the context of NIH training programs 

• Construct logic models that map inputs, activities, and outcomes 

• Differentiate between outputs and short-, mid-, and long-term outcomes 

• Identify common data sources and metrics for assessing trainee and program success 

• Design evaluation plans that support annual progress reporting and renewal applications 

• Apply evaluation principles to real-world scenarios using case examples, templates, and guided reflections
